Last week review 37-2024
|Weekly review 37-2024 and this week the temperature has almost plummeted, sometimes by more than 10 degrees within a few hours 🙁
This week it was about the Elgato Streamdeck 2, which I bought to be able to better design and control video recordings for screencasts. First and foremost, of course, OBS Studio is used for this, an open source tool with which you can not only record the screen, but also integrate various other image sources, e.g. another camera, webcam or the output of a capture.
You may want to hide these elements, move them to another corner of the image or perhaps swap them for another image source. There are freely definable keyboard commands, but remember them all. It is much more intuitive, easier and faster on the Streamdeck with a stored symbol.
I got the model with 15 buttons, which you can assign even more functions to by creating as many pages as you like yourself. can.
Of course you have to configure it and try it out, but then you have a very easy-to-use and flexible system. Even if the Stream Deck costs around €150 and is therefore not exactly cheap, I am glad that I got it and was able to replace the Touch Portal that I had been using up until then.
Then there are security updates again, including for Adobe and Photoshop. The same goes for available updates for Windows systems, which you should install as soon as possible. Further details can be found in the Microsoft Builletin, as it is not just Windows that is affected as an operating system.
And finally there is news from Apple. Firstly, of course, Apple’s new iPhone 16 models, which were recently presented in a show. According to reports, the innovations are limited.
Much more interesting, however, is the ECJ’s decision that Apple may pay several billion in back taxes to compensate for the unjustified tax reduction that Ireland had granted. Since the amount was already deposited, the question is whether Apple will (hopefully) not pay.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
