Last week review 22-2026
Weekly review 22-2026 with very rainy weather, which actually remembers a little more April than June ;-(
This week’s article was about the iPad Mini, a small all-rounder that now replaces the more than four-year-old iPad Air. The iPad Mini has a relatively ideal size of 8.3 inches, especially for consuming content, i.e. reading emails, watching videos and so on.

But also the editing of photos, for example in Lightroom, is quite possible with this small iPad—of course with the restriction that the screen is not calibrated here and you may therefore perform a first sorting out as well as smaller editing steps, which you can then synchronize via Lightroom and perform the final revision on the PC or on the Mac with a calibrated screen.
From the processor power it is sufficient in any case, even for cutting videos with the Da Vinci Resolve app. However, you have the restriction of the small screen here, so that you may really only do this in emergencies. Overall, I am satisfied with the part as a replacement and am glad that I did not bet on an almost 11-inch iPad as before.

Then this week we still have the action from AIArty, which the three programs already discussed several times—Video Enhancer, Image Enhancer and the Matting Tool—at a reduced price up to and including tomorrow. I have already presented the tools here in the blog, partly also with videos. You are welcome to take a look at them and then decide whether, for example, a lifetime license from one of these tools is possible.

After a multi-phase beta, BlackmagicDesign Da Vinci Resolve has officially released version 21 and is of course available as always for Windows, Mac and Linux. The special thing here is that Da Vinci Resolve now has a photo page with which the RAW formats of different cameras can also be edited. It has already been rumored that this Da Vinci Resolve version heralds the end of Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop. I have already downloaded the new version and will definitely try it out.

With regard to the editing options in the Da Vinci Resolve, I don’t really see any problems—this should actually be just as possible as in Lightroom or Photoshop. Especially since the Color Page is also available for editing photos. However, the strength, especially of Lightroom, is and remains, of course, the management of photos. And here I don’t see any option with the Da Vinci Resolve version, if it were the BlackMagic, the media management would have completely turned upside down, at least for the photo area. But I would just install the new version, now that the RAW files of the Lumix camera are supported in the last beta or now in the final version.

Last but not least, I would like to draw your attention to the summer sale of Skylum. Here you can find licenses from Luminar Desktop or the Max license at a lower price. The last version 1.27 has brought, among other things, new functions, e.g. for bokeh and also the portrait photography. You can now get, for example, a desktop license for 99,– € or the Max Liznbez, which also includes the mobile app for 135,– €. Of course you can also download a trial version to try out the program first. But there are also some offers for existing customers. So take a look. You can order via this link.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
