Last week review 31-2026

This week was another week characterized by extreme heat and without the urgently needed rain 🙁

This week it was about DXO PureRAW 6, which can probably be described as a standard in terms of smoke extraction. The software is available for both Windows and macOS and installation is easy. The DxO PureRaw integrates seamlessly, both in Lightroom, with a corresponding export plugin in and, for example, in the Finder, so that you can call up certain actions with the raw files directly from the Finder, for example, without having to switch from Lightroom here.

The smoke extraction function is available in 2 versions, namely Deep Prime 3 and Deep Prime 3D. The latter should be the better and also take a little longer per photo. I have tried all my comparisons with the latter, because even here it only takes about 10 seconds until a photo is smoked and then available as a DNG part.

Here you can simply draw the conclusion that noise extraction functions are offered by many image editing programs, but really none of them are at the level of DXO PureRaw.

Then this week the blog, which is known to run under Wordress, was automatically updated to Wordress version 7.0.4 . All three of my blogs. I only checked in between whether all plugins are still working properly. At least if you use the automatic update function, you should do that in any case. But the update was without problems, at least for my pages.

This week I bought a new Ipad Air after just over 4 years, after the old Ipad Air from February 2022 has significantly reduced its battery performance. This is now not surprising after almost 4 1/2 years. Since I got there with the 64 GB of memory of the old Ipad Air, I got the new iPad Air in the Baisis version with 128 GB, which should be sufficient for the intended tasks. We had ordered exactly the same model for my wife in April, but it was still 100,– € cheaper. So much for the storage crisis.
