Weekly review 31-2024 and this week it is super warm, with the corresponding thunderstorms everywhere 🙁

This week it was about the Samsung Tablet A9, a so-called budget tablet, which I couldn’t resist at a price of €140. Compared to my iPad Air, it has the decisive advantage that it is much smaller and lighter with a diagonal of 8.7 inches. Given the low price, it is of course not as powerful as its Apple competitor, but it is just right for consuming content.

Whether reading emails, browsing social media or websites or watching videos on YouTube, for example, works wonderfully with the small tablet. The device has 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory, but like almost all Android devices, it can be expanded using a micro SD memory card. I got a 128GB memory card and now I put the memory of my Nextcloud app on this memory card.

Of course, the fact that I have a Google account and all other accounts, such as email, etc., were set up on the tablet pretty quickly. So far I’m pretty happy with this tablet and, as I said, you don’t need more power just to consume content.

Then Tamron announced a new superzoom, but only for the E-mount. It’s a 28-300mm/4.0-7.1. Superzooms are becoming more and more popular and optically they’re not as bad as they were years ago. However, this is a focal length range that smells like a one-size-fits-all and you wonder why you’d have a camera with interchangeable lenses and a full format camera.

If it’s at least optically on the good side, the lens, which will be available from the end of August for €900, will certainly be popular. And in the long run it would have 100mm more focal length compared to the Panasonic 28-200mm/4.0-7.1.
