In the article for this week it was about the question why I got an iPad again, but this time with the relatively new M4 CPU. Trigger but actually the fact that you now 4.5 year old iPad of the 4th generation. Generation meanwhile was about to die the battery death so hardly any meadow time in battery operation lasts.

The question was now a new device and of course the question between an iPad and an iPad Pro really basically arose. After appropriate research, I still stayed with the iPad because an iPad Pro with about the same equipment is again a good corner more expensive. Even if at least smaller screen edges as well as a display with 120 Hz refresh rate are installed here.

Neverthese, I am satisfied with the power that the new iPad Air with the M4 brings. This is especially noticed, for example, when editing photos via Lightroom, but also when editing videos in the Da Vinci REsolv app.

In addition, I treated myself to a medical keyboard this time, which is very, very expensive compared to other solutions, but with a Logitech variant I had a little bad luck, meanwhile, the things are perhaps a bit more robust and also more sophisticated. With the Magic Keyboard, the iPad stands practically like a laptop and can still be used accordingly. You have the full keyboard with which you can type very comfortably and also an additional trackpad that looks like a mouse replacement. I

Overall, I am very satisfied with the combination, where you can of course consider the combination at this price or perhaps also have to consider whether a MacBook Air would not have been cheaper depending on the application.

And of course there is more news this week. Among other things, after the Apple event last week, the twenty versions of iPadOS, iOS and also macOS are available. However, the AI supplement is missing on iOS, i.e. the operating system for the iPhones. Apple justifies this with the Digital Act in the European Union. This is a little contradictory, because the same function is available on the MacBook.

This week, Sony introduced two new fixed focal lengths in the extreme telephoto range , namely the FE 400 mm F4.5 and the FE 600 mm F6.3 for the Sony cameras. The weight should be less than one kilogram each, so that the two lenses can still be counted in the range of compact or light lenses.

Then last week Affinity released a larger update with version 3.3, which is now available for download or update for Affinity users. The press release points out that Affinity has now improved new colors, new methods for sharpening and smaller details.

You will have to take a look at it and then decide to what extent this is only a smaller one or, as Canva as the owner of Affinity says, a larger update.

Interesting is that Panasonic has released a 20 mm F2.5 – can you call it pancake, yes – lens this week for the full-frame LUMIX cameras, which expands the series around the lenses, especially for the S9, a good bit.

The same filter diameter is characteristic of this. All three lenses, i.e. 20 mm, 40 mm F2.0 and the kit lens, each have 62 mm. In addition, there is practically the same size of all three lenses.

Of course, you can also connect this lens to the other lenses of the full-frame series. This is really interesting as a supplement to the LUMIX S9. After I got the 40 mm F2.0 as a gift for retirement, this is an interesting and above all relatively bright extension in the almost extreme wide angle range.

Then Skylum has started an action with Luminar, which starts from Monday. There is the license for Luminar Desktop – but only for the desktop version. So the other versions are not included – for 59 euros.

This applies both to owners of earlier products, i.e. Luminar AI, Luminar 4, Luminar 3 and also for the almost old Aurora HDR. They are taking part in this promotion, where you can purchase the desktop license for 59 euros instead of 129 euros.
