This week, of course, the focus was on the release of version ten of DxO Photoab. I made a video about it with the beta version of this program. And I especially liked the new AI depth mask, with which you can determine which parts belong to a certain mask based on the focus in the image. With this new mask as well as the other already known AI masks, I personally had the impression that they now work more precisely, so that a further improvement was achieved here.
In addition, there is an automatic or ki-controlled dust detection function in the details, with which you can automatically detect dust stains from your pictures and then of course also remove them. With regard to the strength, the sensitivity of this recognition can then be set practically seamlessly. With this, DXO completes a further development as a RAW converter and truly impeccable image editing program. In addition, you also have the noise reduction I already discussed in an article, which is also available as a separate app via DXO PureRaw6. These models are also available in Photolab 10.
And the code TUXOCHE, with which you get a 15% discount (only for new licenses) is of course still valid.
As further innovations, one can assume that seven Artisans have released a 10 mm 2.5 fish eye with autofocus, which is currently available for Nikon Z and the L-mount, but is also reportedly to be available soon for the Sony E mount.
That alone is a bit unusual, because with the third-party manufacturers the L-mount usually appears later if at all.
One can now argue about whether a 10 mm fish eye really requires autofocus. But especially with extreme shots, which also include the foreground in the image extremely, an autofocus should be present or it simply makes shooting such shots a little easier. The price is 499,– € in the room, which is a very fair price for a high-quality fisheye.
