Last week review 14-2026
Weekly review 14-2026 and this week the weather is behaving, as you would expect from April and has π very changeable
This weeks article for this week is about image change with AI, more specifically with the AIArty Imaging Matting program. This program allows to free images from their background at the touch of a button and to release the subjects. The background can either be made transparent or colored on request or provided with another photo or additionally provided with a blur.
The user interface of the program is de facto similar to that of other programs I have already presented, such as the AI Image Enhancer and the corresponding video enhancer. Here you choose the right hardware, usually the cooperation between CPU and GPU, and then the appropriate AI model, which promises the best results for the respective situation.
As already mentioned, the exempted background can be colored. He can remain transparent. However, you can also add, for example, another photo that is particularly suitable for product photography, in which you can place a exempt product in any background. When exporting, you usually get three photos, namely once as we designed the picture, with the corresponding background. Then second, the exempted copy and thirdly, the mask used for exemption, which can be loaded into a layer in Photoshop if necessary.
This week the world backup day took place, which is actually sad, because you have to remind of a backup, because a backup of your own data, be it to an external USB drive, a NAS or my way to a corresponding cloud memory, should actually be mandatory, because you want to protect your own data and every technical device, be it a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop and so on, can just fail or the storage media
The third is the ON1 in the latest version of ON1 Photo RAW that offers the restoration of old images. This is about a similar feature as Luminar NEO also offered with one of the last updates. In the case of old photos, for example cracks or kinks and so on, to retouch in some form and, if necessary, also to color the images usually kept in black and white.
And last but not least, there was a small update to my favorite NAS software, namely OpenMediaVault, to version 8.2.0. As you may know, Iβve been running Openmediavault NAS with a ZFS pool that I havenβt had any problems with for a long time. The enlargement of the ZFS pool by other hard disks was also absolutely no problem. In this respect, I am very satisfied with the plugin here at this point.
All in all, again very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
