We have arrived at the autumnal temperatures and the wetness ;-(

This week it was the Luminar version 1.29, the so-called autumn update from Skyum. This update includes some new features, but also improvements to older features. The first thing you notice here is that when exporting there is also the possibility to print out your pictures or order them via a service provider. But I think that here the print on your own printer is certainly the most pleasant version.
With this export and also when exporting to files, for example JPEG or Tiff, the exported file can be provided with a textual or graphic watermark, which may serve to identify your own work. And then we have general improvements in the update, especially in the composition, so when cutting to certain rules, for example golden third rule and so on, which are now better carried out by the AI.

Also other improvements, such as the Enhancement AI, mean that you can’t exaggerate the individual edits. The update or rather the license comes at prices between 99 and 159 euros and can be ordered via the following Link if you are unsure, you should perhaps download a trial license, with which you can then try out whether Lumina fits your workflow.

Then this week there was a second post even with video and this time about Lightcraft. Lightcraft as a Lightroom clone or the Apps produced by Artcraft, which have replicated virtually all Adobe programs with AI, are currently on everyone’s lips. It was therefore time to see Leitkräft as supposed Lightroom clones. The surface is strongly reminiscent of the model. The functionalities are also available and reproduced.
However, like RapidRaw has a problem that apparently the full dynamic range of a RAW file cannot be retrieved with the raw converter. In extreme situations, where this dynamic range is really needed, the settings are unfortunately not sufficient to display lights and shadows equally.
In addition, there is a massive other problem, at least noted, with RAW files of the Lumix as well as RAW files of the Canon cameras. Namely, that the images simply look more blurred compared to the rendered images of the original, i.e. Lightroom Classic. And that’s actually the biggest no-go.

It remains to be seen how the further development is, because after all, Lightcraft has only arrived at version 0.9.0 and there is still a lot of room for improvement here. But at the moment I don’t see this program as a Leitroom clone, let alone that you could now throw your Adobe subscriptions overboard in the different versions.

But this week there was another important event on Wednesday. Due to a critical security hole in PHP, massive websites affected, so either were taken off the net or were already hacked. The cause is probably an error in PHP2Shell, which was known to the developers, apparently, if you can trust the messages, but also got into the hands of hackers due to an accidental earlier publication of corresponding patches.
These can then create appropriate exploits to attack certain websites in the shortest possible time on the basis of such pre-releases with AI models. Public websites, clinics, etc. were probably affected, but also municipalities and other service providers, including my poster, which was not available for more than two hours. In the meantime, this should probably be clarified and I hope that this security bug is out of the world (until the next one comes,).
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
