This week we took a look at the NextGen plugin for Lightroom, which allows to upload your images form within Lightroom to a NextGen gallery on your wordpress blog.
In the past i uploaded new or changed images manually to my photo website, but you’ll loose overview and sometimes i forgot to upload a new image. Therefor i installed the NextGen plugin for wordpress, and now i’m able to generate new galleries from within Lightroom and upload every changed or new image to these galleries.
Since i upload my images both on my website and to flickr (and new on Pinterest) i only have to setup a smart collection (or called intelligent gallery in the NextGen plugin) filtering on the keyword “flickr” and every new or changed image is marked to be published just like in the corresponding [post id=279]flickr[/post] plugin for Lightroom. I only have to trigger the publish process manually.
Going on a foto assingment you can setup a seperate galley for this event and even generate a draft blog entry from within Lightroom, which helps a lot. If you already fill the draft blog entry with text is up to you. I’ll prefer to edit the text in the backend of wordpress, but the gallery is already there 😉
The plugin from alloyphoto is not free of charge, it costs $15, but too me its worth every cent, even though i have to pay again as soon as Lightroom 6 is published.
Talking about Lightroom 6 leads us to the the topic of the last 2 weeks. Til now every publishing date March 9th or March 20. rumored was wrong, so maybe we’ll have to wait til March 25th.
Meanwhile every hint on Lightroom 6 and the short videos about the new functions HDR or panorama vanished from Adobe website.
Programm functions for HDR or panaorama are available in Photoshop and the face recognition is implemented in Photoshop Elements. So what if Adobe only wanted to test reactions to their leak and publishing of the new Lightroom version is planned in May or even later in June.
The reactions to the new functions like HDR or stitching panoramas were different, since there are alternatives in form of PTGui or SNS-HDR or Photomatix. And cloud users still have Photoshop CC to stitch a panorama or merge an HDR image.
So Lightroom 6 didn’t show up, but Adobe Camera RAW was updated to [post id=905]version 8.8[/post]. The new converter supports a couple of the newer cameras and comes with new lesn profiles for new lenses. The new Adobe Raw converter is available for Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC and is updated automatically (update was done yesterday but also for Adobe Premiere and any other product using Adobe camera Raw). Older Photoshop versions must use the DNG converter, which was updated too.
