Weekly review 31-2026 and at least there was a noticeable cooling towards the weekend, but I think rain has still fallen too little 🙁

This week Luminar 1.28 in the foreground, which was published this week. After the last major change with version 1.27, which made it possible to read lens catalogs for the first time, there is a new interface in the new version – currently still available as a beta. This looks much tidier than the previous graphical interface.

As usual, the folders and photos are on the left side. New additions, however, is the “Tutorials” section at the bottom left, which refers to matching articles and, if applicable, videos. All editing steps and options have been moved to the right side. As a result, you have to switch between individual menus much less often while editing a photo. The editing steps are meaningfully summarized, so that you can already see, for example, during image processing, how a certain preset affects the photo.

Although the new functions were rather restrained overall, the cutting tool was improved. It now has an AI-powered image composition that, based on image analysis, suggests an image section that could improve the effect of the photo.

The second major event of the week was Adobe’s August update, which updated both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop and Lightroom for mobile devices.

With Lightroom Classic, however, the innovations are manageable. Here, only the masking tools have been revised, whose transitions can be made much softer with the help of a new spring tool. By the way, Adobe has not yet updated the website.

On the other hand, there is an interesting innovation in Lightroom for the iPad. The AI function for noise reduction is finally available there. However, the prerequisite for this is a newer iPad with an M processor.

In addition, DJI introduced the DJI Mic Mini in a 2S version . This now also makes it possible, like the larger microphone series of the manufacturer, to record internally in 32-bit float. As a result, in the event of a malfunction of the radio connection, the recording remains in the internal memory of the microphone and can be used in full quality. Of course, this raises the question of whether the previous DJI Mic Mini is still sufficient for your own requirements or whether a switch to the new version is worthwhile.

Finally, there were news from Panasonic or from the lens sector. Apparently, we can hardly save ourselves from lenses with a focal length of around 40 mm at the moment. Now 7Artisans has also introduced a 40 mm f/2.5 autofocus . The lens is very small and compact and fits due to its dimensions particularly well with the Lumix S9.

According to the website, the lens is listed for 159,– $, but the website also lists some cameras with which the lens is not compatible.
