Weekly review 21-2023 and hardly the sun is there already the first storm warnings ;-(
This week it was about a software problem, namely the adaptation of the own blog pages to a newer PHP version. I use WordPress version 6.2 for my blogs, as I’m sure many do, and so far I haven’t dared to update these websites to PHP 8.0 or 8.1.
For WordPress itself PHO 8.x is still in beta support, so you can assume that not (yet) all plugins run on the newer PHP version without glitches..
I have therefore pointed out in the article how to install a Linux locally, in a virtual machine or, for example, on a Proxmox server, which can be used to switch between the different PHP versions. So you can then test with a copy of your own website, which you have to download via FTP, to what extent all components, so themes and plugins run with the other PHP version.
You should do this before you do it on the “real” website, only to find out that you have broken your own website.
This week Adobe has released a new Photoshop version. We are talking about version 24.5, which now brings some changes. For example, there is now an improved Remove tool and a taskbar in which tools are context-sensitively displayed.
In addition, there are now presets, so presets also in Photoshop, with which different working steps are summarized. Then there is also Photoshop Beat version, so to speak the version 24.6 which comes up with the function “Generative filling”. Maybe next week I will have a look at the new Photoshop version.
All in all another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
