Last week review 36-2025
|This isn’t really a weekly review, but rather a review of the past few weeks, as I was on vacation and am now starting back up with more regular posts.
First of all, I must have made a mistake with the week numbers somewhere, because the last weekly review wasn’t week 31, but actually week 33, but I don’t think that hurts the article.
But let’s summarize what’s been happening in the past few weeks. It’s worth mentioning that DJI, a leading company in the field of drones and action cameras, has now also released a 360° camera, which is likely an indirect competitor to the Insta 360.
For photographers: It’s certainly noteworthy that Sigma, as a third-party lens manufacturer, has released a 200 mm/f2.0 lens, which is certainly used primarily in sports photography, but also in other genres. Of course, such a light intensity certainly comes with a corresponding weight and, of course, a corresponding price.
Microsoft really made a negtive splash with the August patch for Windows 11, which rendered any installed Enormous E SSDs unusable for at least some users. Further research or confirmation has not been provided by either Microsoft or the manufacturer of what is likely the most affected controller chip, so this bug may have to be dismissed as a multitude of isolated cases.
Black Magic Design then fixed several issues with Da Vinci Resolve version 20.1.1 with a new update to version 20.1 and also integrated some new features into the software. I’ve only installed the new version on my Windows system so far, but haven’t gotten around to trying it out yet.
In the meantime, Openmeidavault has also been updated to version 7.7.15, and some plugins have also been updated as part of this update. What’s still missing is an update to the already released DB version 13, aka Trixie.
ProxMox has already completed an update to version 13, namely from version 8 to ProxMox 9 VE. There is an article here that describes exactly how to perform the update. Nevertheless, I backed up an installation update on my firewall, which was still running on Broux 8.4, using CloneZilla. The previous update went through without a hitch, and I was able to update to version 9 here.
I didn’t perform this backup on my second proxy system, which is used as a test system for several less than a year, and the upgrade promptly failed. This meant that the system wouldn’t restart. Fortunately, I had backed up the essential configuration files with Borg Backup, so I went here. I completely reinstalled the system, so to speak, using the ISO file. Then, in some cases, I retrieved the configuration files, especially from etc., from the backup. I then restored the individual containers and virtual machines on my test system from my Proxmox backup server.
However, the problem arose that logging into the Pros Mox backup server didn’t work despite the corresponding backup of the storage.cfg file. I tried all possible attempts, but the PBS always reported an authentication error. So I already went there, reconnected the backup to the fingerprint, and that worked perfectly. Unfortunately, I can’t answer why it didn’t work in the original configuration.
Finally, it might be worth mentioning that some software manufacturers, especially photo software, are already announcing their usual fall updates. One example is On1 Photo RAW , which is already doing it with the upgrade to ON1 Photo 2026, and of course, DXO is also among them, advertising the new photo app version.
Overall, interesting weeks, and now we’re moving on in the hope that you enjoy the articles.
