Last week review 28-2024
|Weekly review 28-2024 with very mixed weather, from storms to almost unbearable heat 😉
This week, after the FeelWorld T7, it was all about a monitor with a 7-inch diagonal and touch operation. It turned out to be the Desview R705, which is also very inexpensive at €100. Of course, you can’t expect special brightness or special features from a monitor like this in this price range.
But for special brightness or special features, I have the VideoAssist 12 G, which only has a 5-inch diagonal. The Desview R705, however, which is only used indoors, is therefore perfectly adequate in terms of brightness and is actually only used to assess the image section and the exposure via false color when I film myself.
Nevertheless, it is easy to use thanks to the touch, among other things because it displays the menu and important functions at the bottom. It also offers 2 programmable function keys, which I have assigned Focus Assist and False Color to, because I probably need them the most.
For the price of around €100, the Desview R705 is, in my opinion, a price/performance winner if you perhaps only need a monitor for home/studio.
And again, the next data leak has arrived. This time it concerns over 200 million SMS 2FA codes, which were probably more or less openly available on the Internet with sensitive customer data. I have already reported here several times about the security of passwords, 2FA protection and security keys such as the Yubikey. 2FA via SMS or WhatsApp, as you can see from this example, only offers a little more security, because how secure this method is depends on the caution of the service users and also on the service itself. That’s why you should use the 2FA method wherever possible, but please use an app on your own cell phone. If you don’t want to use Google Authenticator or the Microsoft counterpart, there are alternatives such as FreeOTP, which is open source and available for both iOS and Android.
I use it to secure my internal servers in my home lab, for example, or Apache Guacamole.
Take advantage of the opportunity because there is a summer sale until the end of July, with Luminar NEO being advertised with huge discounts. With the code AFF-anR5eq you get an extra 20% discount on an order, so that an order is worthwhile for all those who are interested in Luminar NEO anyway.
So it can be worth trying out Luminar NEO and its extensions.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
