Last week review 23-2025
|This week it was quite hot and, above all, dry again, but that’s happened before too.
The dominant topic this week was, of course, Adobe’s updates for Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, and Adobe Camera RAW. And this time, the update to Lightroom Classic was really worth it, as it added several features that improve daily work.
One improvement we already know from the Photoshop application is the removal of distracting objects or reflections. This allows you to make shots of landscapes or city tours seem empty of people. The first results I tried in Lightroom Classic were very good. Of course, you will also come across photos where this masking might not cover the actual objects you want to remove as well.
Also very useful is the summary of the AI functions applied to an image. This helps you keep track of things, but also allows you to update individual areas.
And the revised functions for noise removal and upscaling of images are truly outstanding. Both functions no longer generate DNG and can be accessed in the panel like any other development function. However, with Super Resolution, the original resolution is still displayed in the metadata. Adobe has packed some really useful and practical features into its June 2025 update.
Practically at the same time as the Lightroom updates, Adobe also introduced a new project called Indigo on its Research page. It aims to further improve the otherwise excellent mobile phone cameras through the use of software, whether in low-light situations or shots for which one would normally resort to HDR techniques. For example, 32 shots are combined to remove or significantly reduce distracting noise. And of course, this app is perfectly integrated into the Adobe ecosystem, allowing for further editing in Lightroom Mobile, for example.
Just a little fast test but for ISO 800 the image isn’t lokking bad at all. Have to play arround with this app.
And remember Skylum’s summer offers for Luminar NEO and Luminar Mobile. There are various packages available, some with significantly reduced prices, so it’s definitely worth trying out. For example, there’s a NEO lifetime license for €99, and since Skylum still offers a money-back guarantee, you’re taking no risk.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
