Last week review 04-2025
|Weekly review 04-2025 and the temperatures are returning to the mild range, much too warm for winter 😉
This week I reported on various tools for managing and archiving bookmarks or corresponding websites. Of course I can manage my bookmarks in the browser, but if you want to do this across different browsers and perhaps operating systems, you often don’t get very far with built-in solutions.
There are now several tools that you can host yourself and that can not only manage URLs, but also save the content of the website as HTML or PDF.
Grimoire is probably still at the beginning of development, Linkding is a good step further. My favorites are either Linkwarden or Hoarder. What they all have in common is that they are easy to install via Docker. SQLite is usually used as a database, but you can sometimes also use an existing database such as PostgreSQL.
Appropriate browser extensions for the various browsers are also important. Most of the time, the Google Chrome browser and Firefox are used here. I might experiment a little more, as I initially installed both systems in a virtual machine on my H470. We’ll see how that develops.
This week, Panasonic released firmware updates for the Lumix S5 II, S5 IIx, GH7 and the G9II. This firmware update brings the capabilities of the cameras more in line with the Lumix S9. Among other things, the connection with Lumix Lab is improved and the cameras mentioned also have the option of displaying multiple frames on the screen/viewfinder, which help you record in the classic 16:9 format as well as 9:16 for reels.
The cameras also have the option of recording video clips in 3.8K Opengate with a lower bit rate using the smaller MP4 codec, which then makes it easier to upload the video clips to social media using a smartphone.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
