Last week review 31-2023

This week the 2nd part was about my experiences with the Asrock Deskmini H470 as Proxmox server. Meanwhile I have some LXC (Linux Containers) running here, which host the different servers. This is already the decisive advantage of the virtualization technique, that many or at least some servers can be run on the same hardware.

There, of course, I have Nextcloud running on an LXC, which I previously ran on a Rapsberry Pi. Thanks to the virtualization, I have assigned only 4 CPU cores and 4 GB RAM to this container, which is also sufficient for an excessive number of users.

In addition, there are various databases, Pi-Hole as an ad blocker or Paperless-NGX as a document management system, which facilitate the daily work. On top of that, I can run many of these applications as Docker containers, which has the advantage that several applications on one machine would like to have port 80 internally, which is mapped to other ports externally via Docker.

This has multiplied my possibilities to host applications myself, but also to try something out from time to time.

Last week review 31-2023Then there is news about the Lumix G9. This is probably no longer available in Japan and discontinued. It was a very nice camera with a lot of features for both photo and video. This probably fuels the hopes that Panasonic will release a Lumix G9 MK II in the foreseeable future. However, the latter is only a rumor so far. However, there are probably no leaks so far that go into detail about the technical features of a successor camera.

Also improved this week is the FreeBSD based firewall OPNSense. This was released this week in version 23.7, which has mostly bug fixes.

Besides that several plugins like OpenVPN and ddclient have been updated. One should perhaps upgrade here.

All in all another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and I am looking forward to your questions and comments.

ciao tuxoche
