Weekly review 13-2025 and almost the entire week of pre-summer weather, maybe a little chilly but very sunny πŸ˜‰

Last week review 13-2025

This week was about my experiences with the Excire Search 2024 plugin, which I bought as part of a discount. The automatic tagging of images is certainly appealing, but in the past, the hit rate for later retrieval of photos wasn’t particularly high. To be clear, there are still errors, but they have become less frequent, and you can usually find the photo you’re looking for, even if the plugin lists a few photos that might not be suitable.

If you already have a catalog, you first have to tag all existing photos, which can take a while. But after that, you can search using keywords. And every search in Excire can be limited to, for example, the 100 best results.

In addition to keyword searches or the search for duplicate photos, the search based on aesthetic values is very exciting. Of course, the aesthetics of an image are also a matter of taste, but Excire still does a good job.

Searching for duplicate photos can be particularly useful for cleaning up your catalog, because in the digital age, you’re quicker to snap a photo, which can lead to a lot of identical or almost identical photos. These are then organized into additional collections so you can examine them at your leisure and, if necessary, sort them out. For me, Excire Search is a win.

Microsoft apparently deleted the Copilot app with an upgrade in Windows 11, according to Golem and others. Now that’s what I call a faux pas. I haven’t even checked whether the app was available on my Windows 11 yet, and if so, whether it was even active.

And remember, the Sklyum discount is still running. It’s a 30% discount on Luminar NEO if you order Luminar NEO via this link. Luminar Mobile is available as an app, but at a comparable 20% discount. Luninar NEO, in particular, which can be used both as a standalone program and as a plug-in for Lightroom or Photoshop, is definitely worth a look. The offer is valid until March 31st.

And the annoying topic: Have you set your camera to daylight saving time yet?

All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
