Weekly review 42-2024 and this week the weather was very mixed, sometimes very wet but also quite warm (at least for mid-October)
One week after the Luminar NEO autumn upgrade, Adobe also released updates for Lightroom Classic, Photoshop and Camera RAW. With the published updates, Lightroom Classic is brought to version 14.0, Photoshop to version 26.0 and Camera RAW to version 17.0. But something has also happened with Lightroom Mobile and is now available in version 10.0.
The most important tool is probably the Generative Deletion, which in Lightrom Classic, but also in the iPAd version, for example, allows annoying elements to be automatically recognized or manually marked and removed with the brush.
This works quite well in parts and can really replace annoying parts with a background.
Other new features include being able to limit the size of the preview cache and simplified renaming of the catalog, e.g. for updates like this one.
There were also bugs, however, namely that some exports didn’t work or, in my case, that the catalog backup had to be repeated 7-8 times at the end of a Lightroom session. At first I thought that it might have something to do with the rights on the server, but I didn’t change anything and it’s been running for quite some time. But backing up to a local drive showed the same error. But there is now Lightroom Classic version 14.1
And while we’re on the subject of bugs, there is apparently a bug with 8.3 GB of files that cannot be deleted when updating Windows to the 24H2 version. Windows has now confirmed that it is just a display error.
Then my order arrived on Thursday, earlier than expected. I’m sure I’ll be able to test it out enough in the next few days to see how it handles and, above all, the quality.
As a small tip, it is an extreme macro lens that will certainly have different requirements than, for example, a Sigma 105mm/2.8 Macro.
