Last week review 32-2024

Weekly review 32-2024 and this week it was very warm and at the weekend it was finally a little cooler 😉

Wochenrückblick 32-2024This week it was the cage from Smallrig for my Lumix S5 IIx and the question of why I didn’t buy a suitable L-bracket as is almost usual, which makes switching between horizontal and high chromatic much easier.

With very compact tripods such as the Easytravellar from Rollei, there is not enough support surface for the camera to be securely attached through the gap in the L-bracket.

The cage from Smallrig itself is very robust and really fits to the millimeter. All access to the camera, for SD cards, microphone and battery remain freely accessible. The 2 cold shoes and the numerous threads give you almost endless attachment options, e.g. if you want to film directly onto an SSD with the Lumix.

You can then mount various accessories that then hold an SSD, in this case a Sandisk.

And with the handle that is now available, filming is also a little easier because the camera and accessories are easier to hold in the center of gravity.

Blackmagic recently released version 2.0 of its free camera app. The new version comes with support for multicam recordings. This means that you can display images from 4 cameras at the same time, which is only possible on a tablet, or can be better assessed there.

What I’m still missing is a log profile for older iPhones, then I could say goodbye to Filmic Pro for good. But maybe that will come. But what is a win for me is the ability to remotely control another smartphone with the app.

Then AMD introduced the new Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7, which are supposed to be faster and more efficient than their predecessors. If the first reviews are to be believed, this effect is probably very limited. However, you have to admit that you probably have to do reviews/tests with real production models and not with pre-production models to really make a statement.

All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.

ciao tuxoche
