Last week review 05-2020

Last week review 05-2020 and its very windy but way to warm for January 😉

Last week review 05-2020This i reported on the first experiences with my new mFt camera the Lumix G9. It is besides the GH5 Panasonic’s top model for photographers, because a lot of the features are most useful for stills photography. But on the other hand because of the firmware update to version 2.0 the video capabilites of the camera were enhanced a lot like for example 10-bit video recording.

The Lumix G9 is slightly bigger than my Lumix G81, but this i think is better for handling. The camera offers some operating controls like a joystick which the Lumix G81 misses. And the Lumix G9 offers a higher resolution with a 20 Mpix sensor, more AF fields and a higher burst rate for still images.

Last week review 05-2020The Lumix G9 is my first camera with 2 slots for memory cards.. At the moment i configured the storage to save RAW images on one card and viudeo clips and JPEG files on the other memory card.

Of course i didn’t try out all functions in the short time, but anyway it’s a very great camera for the money.

With the Lumix G9 and the G81 including the lenses for this system i have a pretty good equipment so i made up a descision. I switched completely to the mFT system and my Canon 6D MK II is already sold.  In an older article i stated that the differences between a full-fram camera and a Last week review 05-2020mFT system are not that big, in particular when capturing at lower ISO settings. And in addition the Lumix cameras offer a lot more for video capturing where the Canon was restricted to 1080p. Since my main interest is landscape, architecture and close-up photography i hopefully won’t regret this decision.

Last week review 05-2020In my review about DxO Photolab 3.1 i found out that this tool offers a pretty good noise reduction in the Elite version which keeps small details crisp and sharp. At the moment  Topaz Denoise AI is available at a reduced price. So far i’m testing this tool and the first results look pretty good if i have to shoot at ISO 3.200 or even 6.400 with the Lumix G9.

But anyway this was an interesting week  and I hope you like the blog posts and i’m looking forward to your questions and comments.

ciao tuxoche
