Excire Search 2026 plugin for Lightroom Classic
After I had only introduced the Excire plugin for Lightroom Classic in March, the successor version Exile 2026 came last Thursday.
As usual, the software is available for both Windows and MacOS and is installed regularly and is then available as a plugin for Lightroom Classic.
As a first innovation in the settings, it is noticeable that now, just like with Excire Foto 2025, videos can also be cataloged. This is especially interesting if you also at least tagged or organized your video clips in Lightroom. In addition, there is now a new panel whose resolution or rather, size can also be changed in the settings.
Almost like with Lightroom itself, the database must be changed after the start, whereby Excire provides that a backup of the old version is saved.
The Panel
With Command or Option X, the new panel is called, which isch as a freely positionable s window. The currently marked image is also displayed here. However, you can also reduce this panel accordingly, so that only the command line with the corresponding icons remains without a preview of a highlighted photo.
The search options in essence have remained the same the search options. This means that you can either search for keywords, faces or similar pictures. To do this, you take a marked image in the pendulum, which then goes to the similarity search and here the new dialog appears just like before, where you can then determine the equality of the other images or better the deviation from this with a slider.
But also the search with a free text input as here for example landscape, winter and water in combination (landscape, misspelled), leads to corresponding results in the catalog.
New is a grouping search, with which you can, for example, for people or for specific objects. These images can be gradeded according to similarity into the collections usually generated by Exile. In this way, you can also catalog a larger number of photos relatively quickly and evaluate them, for example, in terms of sharpness.
Conclusion
The new version strengthens the search options, especially with the groupings and also with the freely positionable, additional image, which can of course also be positioned on a second monitor, for example.
The search for options so that you can essentially save yourself a keyword in Leitung Classic, the price with now about 179 € is to be described as reasonable. This applies even more to the update price of 69 € in question here.
Overall, I am satisfied with the new version, but now I still have to test how good the keywords or rather, the search for corresponding video clips, then works
