Last week review 33-2024

Weekly review 33-2024 and this week we had the warmest day of the year, which was almost unbearably hot and had high humidity 🙁

This week it was about a replacement device for my firewall with OPNSense, simply because there are a few suppliers, but at least for affordable devices they all come from China and therefore delivery takes at least 2-3 weeks. For such a period of time, it is not worth the effort to drive everything back and, for example, put the Fritzbox back into operation as an Internet router.

After the device from Glovary with the i3-N305 processor, this time I chose a device from HUSN, which has practically the same structure as my current router from KingNovy, but at least is equipped with a slightly more powerful N100 CPU. The device is also definitely recommendable, even if internally, with an installed Proxmox, the PCI devices are listed in a different order with lspci.

Last week review 33-2024To get around this little problem, I wrote a small script that copies the corresponding LXC Conf and also the /etc/network/interfaces because I pass the 1st Ethernet port directly to the virtual machine for OPNSesne. Unfortunately, this device also had a defect that only appeared when the Ethernet ports were under heavy load, such as during a backup. After that, the firewall was no longer accessible because port 1 was no longer responding. So I unfortunately had to return it.

Then there were also updates from Adobe this week, namely Lightroom for the iPad, Lightroom Classic and Adobe Camera RAW were updated. But the main thing here is to support new cameras and lenses. Unfortunately, Adobe is not saying which errors have been corrected here. I have installed the updates. This brings Lightroom Classic up to version 13.5.

And finally, there is news from Skylum. They started an early bird sale on August 15th, which ends on August 25th, 2024. During this period, you can get the Luminar NEO license for €139 at a reduced price and the annual subscription is then available for €79 instead of €99. Both new and existing customers can buy Luminar NEW via this link and if you use the code TUXOCHE you get an extra 10%.

The fall update with new functions will probably be available in mid-October and will include catalog improvements, color masking and much more.

All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.

ciao tuxoche
