Weekly Review 15-2026: This week it’s almost summery, but definitely very nice weather 😉

Last week review 15-2026This article discusses, among other things, how to back up your vacation photos and video clips when you’re traveling. The first thing that comes to mind is a laptop, which you can use to back up the data to a local or external hard drive. But there are alternatives.

A device that you always have with you is your smartphone, or in exceptional cases, a tablet. You can, for example, connect an SD card reader via USB and back up photos and video clips that way. A CFexpress card reader, since many system cameras also have this type of memory, can also be used to back up the data either to the internal storage of the smartphone or tablet, or to an external storage device. If you do this on the device’s internal storage, a large amount of internal storage is required, especially for video clips with higher bitrates. But the storage capacity of mobile devices is also increasing.

Another option is the Lumix camera itself, in this case the Lumix S1R II, which, since the last firmware update, allows you to back up photos and video clips from the SD or CFexpress card to an attached SSD without needing a smartphone or tablet. This option can be particularly helpful when you can’t take extra luggage, for example, when traveling by plane.

This week, the Mozilla collaboration closed serious vulnerabilities in Firefox and Thunderbird. With this update, the 140-year development team released the first version. This brings the new version 149 of both systems to market.

There is some news from the storage market, but it’s not good. As ComputerBase reported, Samsung has introduced a Samsung S870 Evo SSD with 8 GB of storage, offered at a hefty MSRP of €2640. This MSRP will certainly drop further, but it’s a benchmark to look at unless the situation in the storage market, and especially for SSDs, changes fundamentally. However, given the demand, particularly for AI, the latter isn’t expected.

All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoyed the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
