Last week review 20-2025
|Weekly review 20-2025 and finally the rain arrived, but unfortunately not enough to make up for the water deficits of the last few weeks 🙁
This week it was all about the UGreen NASssync DXP 4800+, which I bought due to a special offer.
I had six 4 terabyte hard drives left over due to the migration of my Openmediavault server to larger hard drives. However, I definitely needed storage space with more than four terabytes to store my photos and videos and, if necessary, edit them on this device. This offer from the UGreen as a 4-bay device came at just the right time.
The hardware is very reasonable and, in my opinion, unrivaled in this class for this price, considering that it offers an Intel Pentium Gold processor, meaning a processor with five cores and 8 GB RAM, which isn’t often found in pure NAS devices, at least not in the basic configuration.
In addition to additional USB 2.0 and 3.2 GEN 2 ports, an SD card slot, and a 2.5 Gbit network adapter as well as a corresponding 10 Gbit network adapter are also included as standard, making the system truly future-proof.
The performance of the device, equipped with four 4 terabyte hard drives in one device and using the 2.5 GB network adapter, can be described as very good, as it achieves 290-295 MB/s with Samba, and this with an average power consumption of around 30 W. Which is more than acceptable for such hardware.
But there are also a few things that bother me, and I’ll cover those in a second part.
This week, after a relatively short beta phase, Da Vinci Resolve version 20 was finally released and is now available for download, as always, both as a free version and as a studio version.
A number of minor and major improvements have been made, for example, improvements in the Audio, the improvement in keyframes, but above all, the improvement in masking image parts, here with Magic Mask V2.
To be on the safe side, you should make a backup of the database or perhaps start with a copy of an older project and edit it in version 20, as the project data will definitely be changed here. I’ve downloaded the Studio versions for Mac and Windows, but haven’t installed them yet.
As several sources report, there are increasing failures with the FritzBox 7590 models because the component for 2.4/5.0 GHz Wi-Fi traffic is apparently partially burning out. This then leads to operational restrictions for one or both networks. The Golem article reports that AVM doesn’t seem to be calling this a system error, but this error probably no longer occurs with newer devices from around 2019 onwards. So I’ll just hope so, because my box is from 2022.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to yours. Questions and comments.
