Last week review 19-2025
|Weekly review 19-2025 and it’s quite warm, but above all, there’s been a massive lack of rain, and even the few drops don’t really help ;-(
This week, like last week, was again about OpenMediaVault and ZFS. Last week, I reported on how easy it is to install ZFS as a file system in an OpenMediaVault system and create corresponding storage pools.
This article and the accompanying video were just a test for me to try out how to export a storage pool and later import it into a larger storage pool. I’ve since done that and replaced the former 6×4 TB hard drives with 3×16 TB Exos hard drives.
In addition to preparing for this change and simply trying out the individual commands, it certainly made things much easier that I’ve had a PCI SATA card for some time, so I could keep the hard drives from the old pool connected while also creating the new pool on the larger drives. could.
The transition actually went quite smoothly, and now I have a storage pool with almost 29 TB of hard drive space.
Since I now need a storage option with more than 4 TB for photo and video editing, and I now have six 4 TB hard drives, so to speak, I already know what’s next. There was a super-cheap offer at MediaMarkt for a UGreen DXP 4800 Plus, and I ordered it because a self-built NAS with a case, motherboard, RAM, etc. would certainly have been just as expensive. But I’ll report on my first impressions next week.
And there’s news from Skylum: Luminar NEO is now also available as an app for Android and Google Chromebooks.
After a relatively long time on Apple devices, Luminar NEO is now also making its way to Android, which may please some Android users.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
