This week it got cooler and you can feel the arrival of autumn, and then there were the heavy rain events that led to flooding ;-(

This week it was all about a new keyboard, a mechanical keyboard with brown switches. I’m referring to the Keychron K3, a 75% keyboard, which means that additional keys or key blocks like the numeric keypad have been removed.
The Keychron K3 is very comfortable to type on, although I obviously have to get used to the fact that the keyboard is smaller and some of the keys, like Home or Position 1, are positioned slightly differently.

The keyboard comes with a layout for macOS, but if you want, it can also be equipped with the corresponding keys for Windows operating systems, which are included with the keyboard.

Last week review 37-2025Other features of the Keychron K3 include connection either via Bluetooth with a maximum of three devices or via a USB-C cable. The latter connection also charges the internal battery.

Last week review 37-2025There’s also news from Skylum, or Luminar Neo. This program is now part of a Back to School promotion with some Available at significant discounts. Maybe just download a trial version and try out the RAW converter yourself, which has a lot to offer. Or order it now :-

Black Magic released Da Vinci Resolve version 20.2 this week. That doesn’t sound like much compared to the recently released 20.1 version, but here are two key features, along with many detailed improvements, that I consider crucial. Firstly, Da Vinci Resolve can now also handle ProRes RAW. Furthermore, there’s now an option to use AI to detect silent sections in a video and then remove them.

This Remove Silence option was also available before, but unfortunately, it wasn’t adjustable, so the transitions between quiet sections and spoken sections were simply too abrupt. This is said to have been significantly improved now, as you can also adjust some parameters, for example, how many frames should be retained before and after the silence, or before the beginning of a dialogue, for example. I’ll definitely try it out soon and could use the work for YouTube, for example. Videos make things much easier.

All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.

ciao tuxoche
