Last week review 26-2025
|Weekly review 26-2026, and this week was marked by heavy rainfall and, at least for this time of year, quite cool temperatures 🙁 but we need the rain 😉
As you know, I’m running a Nextcloud instance on a Proxmox server, which was originally installed on an Ubuntu distribution version 22.04. There was already an option to upgrade to 24.04, but that caused massive problems. A ZFS system is helpful here if you create a snapshot before the upgrade. This allows you to easily restore the previous version in the event of an error.
Since the PHP version I was using was also due to be upgraded, I tried again recently. The do-release-upgrade script ran successfully this time. However, a problem arose: I could no longer log in after the upgrade. This was because a module for accessing MySQL, or in my case, MariaDB, was not installed in the new version.
After installing this module for PHP, everything worked perfectly, and the upgrade process was complete. However, it was strange that not all PHP modules were installed during such an upgrade. But perhaps it was because the PPA repositories were used for the PHP installation, and these are not evaluated by the do-release-upgrade script.
This week, there were again a lot of Prime Day deals. Some are also very interesting for the photo and computer sectors. For example, I bought a docking station that, in addition to the usual HDMI and USB ports, also has three Thunderbolt ports, so that future expansions won’t be slowed down. Being able to connect both one monitor via HDMI and the second monitor via DisplayPort to the MacBook wouldn’t be a bad idea either. I’ll report on my experiences soon.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
