Last week review 22-2025
|Weekly Review 22-2025 and this weekend, the high summer temperatures returned, but actually, the change was too fast again 🙁
This week, I once again talked about the UGreen NAS DXP 4800+, where, unlike in the first part, I listed the things that are either a no-go or that I didn’t like so much and need improvement.
A definite no-go is the fact that the Mail Transport Agent, i.e. Postfix, has been removed from the underlying Debian Bookworm operating system. This prevents emails and other notifications from being sent or received, even though you can set up email addresses in the user management. If you set up a cron job, you won’t receive any notifications about possible errors.
In my opinion, the Backup and Sync app should be rejected because of its limitation to a specific storage format, regardless of the fact that this app isn’t capable of restoring, for example, a single file. And so, there are some problems with the UGreen system. And that’s a year after its market launch. One can only hope that UGreen will remedy this with future updates. At least there’s a plan for what will be improved on the UGos over the next 12 months.
Laowa has now introduced a fisheye zoom lens with a constant aperture of f/2.8, which is now available for Canon RF, Sony E, Nikon Z, and L-Mount mounts.
At 8mm, only a circle is illuminated, while at 15mm, the entire sensor is illuminated, albeit with the curved lines typical of fisheye lenses. With a price tag of around €600, this actually sounds interesting. However, the lens is completely manual.
And then Apple introduced its new operating system, iOS 26, at WWDC, which will soon be available on smartphones, iPads, and MacBooks. The system will likely have a different design, but most importantly, it will feature improved multitasking and windowing. Furthermore, this will be the last MacOS that Intel Macs will benefit from.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
