Last week review 11-2025
|Weekly review 11-2025 and this week the weather is cooler and simply more unpleasant 😉
This week’s second part of the article was about hasdeep, about how to truly verify your backups on external drives. In my opinion, this is the only way to be sure that a backup is actually working. And this is not only of utmost importance for photos or video clips, but for all files, be it documents, contracts, invoices, etc.
By creating checksums using hasdeep and later verifying them, especially when backing up to external drives, the security of the backup is guaranteed. In this example, using the small Bash script, you can first create and save the checksums and then audit them later. Then you’ll notice any changes immediately.
To be able to verify external backups later using the same hash file, you only need to work with relative paths, i.e., by first switching to the folders to be backed up. It would, of course, be more transparent if USB Backup had a hook-up mechanism, similar to Proxmox Backup.
Then there’s another promotion from Sklyum as a March offer. It’s a 30% discount on Luminar NEO if you order Luminar NEO via this link. Luminar Mobile is available as an app, comparable but with a 20% discount. So, Luminar NEO in particular, which can be used both as a standalone program and as a plug-in for Lightroom or Photoshop, is definitely worth a look. The offer is valid until March 31st.
Aperty, the app specifically for portraits, is getting an update that is expected to be released on March 20th. It will include wrinkle smoothing, removal of skin imperfections, etc. – all things that a portrait or wedding photographer might certainly need. You can save 10% on Aperty orders via this link. And this is also valid until the end of March.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
