Last week review 02-2025
|Weekly review 02-2025 and this time quite a lot of snow has fallen even for our area, so that it was sometimes quite difficult even with winter tires 😉 and yet it just looks beautiful
First of all, don’t be surprised that it is already the weekly review 02-2025. For this, I have now learned, there is even 1 DIN 8601, which specifies exactly how the week numbers are set or defined.
The first article of this new year 2025, as has been my usual practice for the last 10 years, dealt with the past year 2024 and its highlights. A milestone of the year 2025 was certainly the purchase of a modernly equipped PC after more than 7 years with the old PC, which could no longer be upgraded to Windows 11.
The Lumix S5 IIx is a photographic highlight of the year 2024. The camera is a logical extension to the Lumix S5, especially in the video area. The better video AF and the Opengate format are particularly worth mentioning here. The option to record video clips on an SSD connected via USB-C expands the camera’s capabilities immensely.
It is still the biggest discussion about the change to the Photo Cloud subscription planned by Adobe, which combines Lightroom Classic and Adobe Photoshop CC. The Photo Cloud subscription with 20 GB of storage space is no longer available to new customers, or only until January 15, 2025. If you then want to keep the price of €11.89 per month stable, you have to change the subscription to annual payment, otherwise the price will probably rise considerably.
For others, for example with the prepaid solution, as is often the case on Black Friday, the price remains at this price and the subscription can then be continued with the annual payment method. I’ve been doing it this way for several years, for example, I buy 1 or annual subscriptions as Prepaid for Black Friday, and now I’m in peace until November 2026. Then I pay the equivalent of less than €7/month for Lightroom Classic and Photoshop CC.
And finally, there’s news from Skylum, who are now coming up with a special offer for the portrait inking software Aperty. A so-called lifetime license for Aperty is now available at a price of €349.00. If you would like to take out a subscription and thus have the guarantee of always being up to date, you will receive a month free when you order the link. So you get an Aperty subscription for 13 months.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
