Last week review 43-2025
Weekly Review 43-2025: This week we had another taste of “Golden October,” but it will surely be over soon 🙁

This week, of course, saw the October update from Adobe . Several apps were updated, including Lightroom Classic, Lightroom, Photoshop CC, Adobe Camera Raw, and Adobe Bridge. I had a few issues with the Creative Cloud app during the update.
There are a few new features in Lightroom Classic, such as Assisted Photo Selection. This allows you to filter out photos based on image or exposure errors, or to select only photos where the subject is in sharp focus.
However, this is very reminiscent of features found in Excire Search.
This feature is also used to stack images based on visual similarity. The degree of similarity can be adjusted with a slider.
This can simplify the process of sorting out duplicate photos of the same subject. It actually works quite well, but you have to. experiment with it to see if it meets my own requirements. There’s also a function to automatically detect and remove dust spots. And you can even package this function into a preset, which you can use, for example, during import.
Perhaps it’s still too early, but the changes aren’t exactly groundbreaking. I haven’t yet tried Photoshop CC, which now officially supports Nano Banano.
This week, as announced, there was a big surprise from Canva, the new owner of Affinity. Everyone had been speculating whether there would be a version 3 of the suite or whether Canva would switch to a subscription model like other software companies. There is indeed a subscription model, but Affinity is initially free after registration. However, the free version lacks the AI tools, and based on the description, I would guess that while all the tools from the Affinity Suite are in one app, their functionality may have been reduced compared to Affinity 2.0. At least, that’s how the comparison on the website reads. Maybe I’ll download the app and… Try them out.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoyed the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
ciao tuxoche
