Weekly Review 39-2025 and this week it’s very chilly, but you have to get used to it again 🙂

This week’s article was about the new version of Exire Search 2026. This software is a plug-in for Lightroom Classic and, as already introduced, can automatically tag the catalog based on certain AI functions and search for any keywords and combinations.

The most significant innovation, at least for me in this version, is that, like the software from the same company, Excire Foto, this plug-in can now also index videos. This is certainly important for anyone who manages video clips with Lightroom Classic, at least.

In addition, the new panel can be placed anywhere on the screen. This means you can, for example, move it to a second monitor in a corresponding setup. Alternatively, you can shrink it so that only the toolbar remains, which you can then also easily place in Elements together with the Lightroom elements.

There’s some news on the Linux front: Kali Linux, particularly known for its security tools, has been released in version 2025.3. This Debian-based distribution enjoys a particularly good reputation in IT security.

Skylum is offering some really good discounts, up to 20%, until October 7th to mark the launch of the Luminar Eco System, which includes both desktop and smartphone apps. The combined desktop and mobile app is available for €129 instead of €159. Skylum is following the same path as Adobe, increasingly merging the two worlds. You can order via this link and receive the increased discount with code THX20.

There’s also news on the Windows front: Microsoft has apparently decided to discontinue the so-called ESU program, which allowed you to get additional updates for Windows 10 for $30, for the EU Economic Area. This means you can keep your old Windows 10 PC updated for another year, as Computerwoche reports.

Finally, the developers of Veracrypt have fixed many of the program’s errors and bugs for the various operating systems. Version 1.26.27 is now available, an updated version of this software that is often used for encrypted containers.

All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoy the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.

ciao tuxoche
