Last week review 38-2025

This week you could tell that autumn is approaching. At the same time, however, it became summery warm again at the weekend.

Last week review 38-2025

The article for this week was more or less specifically about the MacBook Pro and here about a Thunderbolt Dock, with which the existing connections of a MacBook or MacBook Pro can be expanded or multiplied. This time, according to appropriate research, the candidate was the Wavelink Thunderbolt 4 Dock, which was sold at a particularly low price on the occasion of the Amazon Prime Prime Days.

The Wavelink Thunderbolt 4 Dock has the appropriate ports on the back. So there are three connections available here: several USB ports, one 2.5 Gb, network connection and outputs for monitors, which provide both a Displayport and an HDMI connection in pairs.

Unfortunately, when connecting a Thunderbolt 4 drive, there were problems, especially with the read speed performance, which was still a good bit reduced compared to the direct connection of the drive. But the decisive factor for me to return the dock was the fact that firstly monitors could only be controlled with the installation of additional Display Link drivers, but above all that on my LG, which at least offers a 4K resolution, could not scale the output of the MacBook Pro, so that the letters, menu, texts and so on seemed very, very small.

The last week was marked by new introductions, especially in the software sector. I’d like to list them here.

S

For example, Oracle has introduced a new version of the Virtual Box with version 7.2.2, which corrects some errors, but also brings new features.

Then Apple now offers iOS 26 on the corresponding devices. This also means an update, for example for my iPhone 16 Pro and also an update for my MacBook Pro. Some of the AI functions implemented here, such as proofreading and so on, work relatively well after initial tests.

Last week review 38-2025This was also presented this week by Exire the Search Pkugin for Lightroom Classic in the version 2026. In addition to some improvements, this version now also offers to index video files, as the photo applications can catalog accordingly before.

Last week review 38-2025Then, so to speak. Finally, the PI presented the new DJI Mini 5 drone, which is available at a price of just under €800. This drone. Has a one-inch sensor with at least 52 megapixels, so that the triggering is improved a lot here. In addition, the drone has an internal memory, so you can’t forget any micro-SD cards. Let’s wait for the first tests.

And the latest news would also like to point out the new macro lens from Laowa. This is a macro lens with a focal length of 180 mm, but it can serve up to a scale of one to 1.5, i.e. a half weeks of magnification of the objects. This lens is supposed to be available at Laowa for just under $500. Unfortunately, the lens for Canon RF and the Panasonic L-Mopunt will be available as a purely manual lens.

All in all again very eventful week. I hope you like the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
