Last week review 06-2026
Weekly review 06-2026 and still quite mild here, although wet and gray ;-(

This week’s topic was videos, specifically improving older videos with AIArty VideoEnhancer. This program allows you to upscale videos to, for example, 4K resolution, even if the original is only in FullHD or even 720p. At the same time, the program is able to significantly improve the sharpness of a video clip, so it can easily be used in a mix of 4K video clips.
AIArty VideoEnhancer is available for both macOS and Windows in two different options. One option is a single-device license with one year of updates, priced at a very fair €69. The other is a lifetime license, which is slightly more expensive at €149, but can be used on up to three devices. And of course, there’s a trial version so you can try out the program and see if you like it. is satisfied with the results.

Improvements to a video also include being able to crop and adjust colors, saturation, contrast, etc.

Viltrox recently joined the L-Mount Alliance and released its first L-Mount AF lens, the 16mm f/1.8. The lens is also available for Nikon Z-mount and Sony E-mount. For Panasonic, it’s wider but has the same aperture as the Panasonic 18mm f/1.8. However, the filter diameter is slightly larger at 77mm.
The Nikon and Sony versions are priced at €600, so it can be assumed that the L-Mount version will be in the same price range.

Skylum also has something to celebrate, as Luminar NEO is turning four years old. To mark the occasion, there’s an anniversary sale from February 6th to March 1st, 2026, with significant discounts on Luminar NEO packages. Over the years, there have been several enhancements, such as HDR stitching, the panorama function, and most recently, the AI function for image editing. For example, there’s the Lumian NEO license starting at €69.00, but other packages are also available. Just take a look around.
And finally, UGreen has released a new version of the UGOS operating system for the UGreen NAS. Version 1.13 installed without any problems, and three of my apps installed afterward as well.
Unfortunately, this update doesn’t address the real issues. The underlying system remains Debian Bookworm, there’s still no mail server (Postfix), which is part of Debian, and so on. It’s a real shame, because this threatens to make otherwise good hardware obsolete in terms of software. This is especially true for anyone who uses the NAS as a home server and publishes services on the internet. These days, I wouldn’t want to do that for security reasons. But my DXP4800+ is a dedicated NAS.
All in all, another very eventful week. I hope you enjoyed the articles and look forward to your questions and comments.
